Spider plants and certain cacti do well, as does Tradescantia (wandering Jew). Any plant with leaves with dark red undersides don't need much light, and plants with thick shiny dark leaves are usually good at dealing with cold temperatures.
If you can also hang up some pictures, your close might end up as nice as ours where it's always a joy to come home
