| Comment | I think part of packing will be how long you intend to stay. I moved here from Florida 3 years ago and thought I'd be cold all the time, but I acclimated after the first year and now I definitely feel like I'm roasting on some days I would have considered cold before. I brought all my clothes since it's a long-term move, and I mostly dress in layers. A tank top was still nice to have to layer under other things, even in that first year, because sometimes you'd go inside somewhere with the heating ALL the way up and you'll really want something lighter.
If you already have some waterproof stuff, bring it, but if you're missing something wait to buy it until you're here. For shoes, you'll want a lot more water-resistant stuff than you might be used to wearing, not just for active rain but also for the puddles and mud in a lot of places afterward. I also don't wear sandals here at all because there's a lot of broken glass and I tend to shuffle when I walk. |
