Anderston is a small region next to the city centre. It’s very handy for access to everything.
I’ve no idea where you’re coming from to give recommendations for what you need. But the weather changes massively each day- it can be cold and wet in the morning and warm and sunny in the evening so always wear layers.
The area directly around central station isn’t very nice. There can be a lot of trouble/unpleasant behaviour.
