My ex is Mexican, I spent a month in Mexico last year, and I’m currently in Texas where there’s a lot of Mexican food on offer. I can honestly say that any Mexican food you can get in Glasgow is just as good as in Mexico. I don’t really get what people mean when they say “it’s not real Mexican”. I’d even go as far as to say our ingredients may even be of a higher quality, particularly the meats. I’ve tried Topolabamba, Bibi’s, El Jefe’s, almost all of the suggestions in this thread and they’re all fine. They all serve recognisably Mexican cuisine and they hit the spot just fine for me (without the dodgy stomach issues I got from a roadside taco vendor in Playa del Carmen and a Mexican-owned cantina in downtown Austin)
