They mod the bikes to be able to keep up with the rest. If they can speed about through lights and pedestrian areas they can make enough money. If they don't the others who mod bikes can make more money and take the jobs.
I have seen them go up hills without pedaling and take off from lights. I followed one from the city one day and even though I can maintain 18 MPH on my bike this guy left me behind. They are meant to only assist pedal up to 15mph. No way this guy on a big heavy bike could maintain that speed without the bike being modified. |
