| Comment | not exactly right. see, the big issue with a lot of people in these hate groups is they've chosen or been lead to believe that the people they hate aren't actually people and therefore, not deserving of being humanized.
it's also worth mentioning that platforming a hate group usually leads to increased membership because what these people are selling isn't membership, it's an excuse to take out their anger on the people they want to de-humanize. look at the time nick griffin made an ass of himself on question time. he said london needed to be "ethnically cleansed", talked about how he was friends with the leader of the KKK, wrote a book on how the holocaust was a conspiracy, called LGBTQ+ folk "creepy perverts" and much much more. ya know what happened with the BNP's membership numbers after that? it went up because people resonated with that message.
let me ask this. what would the city of glasgow loose if they only marched once a year rather than the 6+ times a year they march? you platform extreme ideas, it only makes them stronger and more likely to keep pushing the envolope because "no one stopped us last time" |
