I quizzed my private hygienist (when I had one). She told me the best thing to focus on is the physical removal stuff (i.e. flossing and brushing), and pay less attention to mouthwash (I had specifically been querying about moutwash).

Highly recommend an electric toothbrush if you don't already have one. I didn't get one for so long and really wish I had have done!!! Think it would have saved a bunch of money. Used to have all sorts of problems even though I was being very diligent about my teeth brushing - since getting an electric one I usually get the all clear at my checkups!

Re: toothpaste. One of the important things is the fluoride content, but I have found aldis 60p cheap stuff has the same (highest) level of fluoride as the fancy ones haha. So its not all about the money on that front.
