RightMove and Zoopla are good imo, as well as the other apps like Gumtree. I have never experienced scams before but be sure to do a flat viewing before deciding on anything. If you don't mind flatmates, you can also try SpareRoom.

I believe the housing crisis in Glasgow is still in dire situation. I would recommend looking beyond city centre since the bus and train are pretty convenient (not too much now that they cancelled the night buses). If you're under 22 you don't have to pay for bus travels.

Not sure about working as a bartender but I assume it wouldn't be too hard since there are quite a lot of pubs and some smaller ones further from the city centre. I got a friend working at a pub during the summer.
