I stayed in Australia for a bit, and one of the first things that was really obvious after a couple of days was that despite it being a 26-hour journey, it was like stepping off the plane into a place very like Scotland. Just that the weather was nicer, the people were friendlier, the food was better, the place was clean, everybody seemed happy, there were jobs, and there was so much open space. So I can't really help. I think there's a reason so many Scots emigrate to Australia and NZ. Good luck though.
