| Comment | First one was a Honda Jazz from 2010. When I bought it the MOT was in 5 months. I drove it for 1 month and I loved it. I took it for a service, and the mechanic told me the underneath was badly rotten and that it'd never pass the next MOT. I saw it with him and you could make holes in the frame with your finger. I sold it that day and I lost 600. I could have kept it until its MOT, but I preferred to get rid of it and get as much as possible. This is 100% my fault for not checking underneath the car. But I just don't know about cars.
The second car is a Skoda Fabia also from 2010. I still have this car, but it won't start. It seems the timing chain slipped. I used the car like 4 or 5 times. I've contacted a few mechanics in my area and all of them quoted me around 1.2k to 1.5k to repair it. That's what I paid for the car so I will scrap it. The car also needs 4 new tyres and the tracking done, and the exhaust back box will need some repairs soon because it's been MOT as advisory twice already. I knew about tyres + Backbox when I bought it, so I factored it to get this done. But the 1.5k from the timing chain I didnt expect. if I do all the jobs that'd easily be 2.5k just in repairs. So I think I will scrap it. |
