I can’t give you specific about leverndale experience but can maybe help with what psychotherapy is.

Counselling vs psychotherapy is that counselling is a talking therapy generally aimed at specific problems, while psychotherapy is a a talking therapy that is less specific problem orientated. Often it is chatting about your past with another trained person. Talking things through helps you explore your concerns, thoughts and feelings about various things in you and reflect of matters possibly in a different way than you have before.

Whereas counselling usually only takes a few visits, psychotherapy is usually done over a longer period of time. It seems daunting at first if you don’t know anything about it, but the first few sessions will be the psychotherapist getting to know you a bit and working out the best ways they can help you. It can help to talk to someone you don’t know well, and in a situation that is safe and you know the information is confidential.

I know it is easier said than done, but please don’t worry about it. At the end of the day it is just talking. And it is really common for people going for the first time to be anxious and shut down, not knowing what to say. But that’s what the psychotherapist is used to and is trained for. I can’t give you specifics of what you’ll do together, you and any therapist you work with, as a lot of it will be tailored to you and your needs.

I hope this has helped settle some of your anxiety and I hope you find some help from them for you mental well-being
