| Comment | My parents moved to Glasgow from Ireland when I was 18 (just finished school) and so I coped really well because all my friends were going off to uni in other places so I wasn’t missing much if that makes sense.
My younger siblings on the other hand really struggled. My brother who would’ve been about 16 had to go into a year group with younger kids (making him the oldest in his year) because of the difference in curriculum and didn’t want to be behind when it came to preparing for exams. So he really struggled making friends and the culture shock was also quite big moving from a small rural town to Glasgow. They just really missed their friends and way of life.
Honestly from my perspective, the impact is pretty huge and we only moved from Ireland which is only an hour flight away. |
