I am surprised. People ought to think about the background to the case and how the prison system actually works.

The guy pled guilty, the judge would take this as at least remorse for the actions, and its well understood that locking someone up for really long periods of times results in hugely increased chances of speedy recidivism once released.

The idea that people ought to be locked away eternally is senseless. Its retributive and gets nobody anywhere. Rehabilitation is key here. If the cunt behaves himself, gets out and disappears into the background noise of society, we're all for the better here. If he re-offends, his record will stand to make him receive a larger punishment.
