Comment | As a disabled person, I'm certainly not moaning for the sake of moaning. Huge sections of the city are inaccessible to me for almost 2 weeks because of this. It's nigh on impossible to figure out what roads are shut and when, so you're basically taking a risk every time you step on a bus.
Whoever is meant to communicate this to the city has done a God awful job - I'm on the green and my building has had no information about it. I assumed it was just city centre only to find the end of my road is shut for 10 days, yet for some reason it's open just now?
I tried to get a taxi where I wanted to go today, because of the side of George Square I was dropped on I couldn't get to the opposite side. I'm hearing impaired so pretty lost when people give me directions. I eventually just about cried on a security guard who took pity on me and walked me through so I didn't have to walk up the hill I'd just walked down.
It's not moaning for the sake of moaning - I work with older adults who can't get to their day centres and are stuck at home. For something like dementia, it's crucial to have routine and keep going.
ETA: not forgetting the escalators at argyle Street are still off rendering the station inaccessible to those with mobility issues. |
