| Comment | There is a loophole in the law that that means it’s not illegal to park in cycle lanes. It’s simply a parking issue and a matter for the council to deal with.
There was an MSP working with a cycling charity a few years ago, trying to get the law amended but I don’t think it went anywhere.
Certainly inconsiderate and goes against the highway code, but not something the police are going to waste their already stretched resources on.
Suggest you simply cycle round the obstruction when safe to do so and avoid becoming an angry cyclist with a chip on their shoulder, making a scene in public. That energy is better spent trying to affect change where it can make a difference. |
