City centre light sequences were changed a few years ago to be more pedestrian focussed.
Every junction and crossing has its own sequences. Hope St for example is timed to allow the flow of traffic to move off from Hope St at St Vincent and get all the way to Cowcaddens without stopping.
Argyle St between Union and Queen St have huge pedestrian green times.
Sometimes Traffcom take manual control of certain junctions to ease traffic congestion. You’ll see it a lot at West St for example. |
