Comment | I'm 32, I've struggled with this my whole 20s. I think exercising as a woman is tough in Glasgow. Here are some things I enjoy: \- **PureGym/cheap gym** nearby your house so you'll go - cardio + weightlifting. Get a PT for one or two sessions to get your technique right. I don't use the scary back bit but I do like do use the freeweight section, especially the tires and the pulling thing. I also like to follow Nike app (which is free)'s workouts. I have a pal to go with most mornings and it is holding me accountable but actually its nice to go on my own and stick a podcast in and get to it. They also do classes, I liked the Strength one. I've done Spin a lot in the past too and enjoy it. \- Join a **BootCamp**, tend to be mostly women and you get a great work out. I stopped going because I don't have a car and it was quite expensive/not safe to come into the park at night. But I LOVED it when I went. \- **Yoga** \- Go to a class. Also full of women normally (and way more men than when I started 10 years ago which is nice). I really only like Hot Yoga but it is expensive and not to everyone's taste. There are plenty of options \- **Rock Climbin**g - I'm terrified of heights but for a while a few years ago I got really into rock climbing. It's like a puzzle and a work out and I found it so much fun when I wasn't shitting myself. \- There are loads of **sports clubs** for women, my pal joined a football team in Denniston that she loves. I don't love team sports (probably trauma from having to do PE and being a self-conscious teen!), but there are a ton of options \- **Swimming** \- there aren't a lot of pools but if you can find one near you its a great workout \- **Cycling** \- the city is opening up more and more these days and there are lots of lovely easy cycles you can do. I love the cycle to Loch Lomond though it is longer than I always think it is for someone like me who is quite unfit. All flat though, and you can even add a kayak in the Loch to the end of your cycle (and get the train back!). This is a perfect summer day out for me. |
