Yes it would make sense to hire a car to visit the highlands but in the interest of actually enjoying anything/taking it in- I’d be mindful of how much time you allocate towards it.
(Also Loch Ness is such a load of nothing. We have loads of lochs. It’s quite unremarkable.)
