So you would actually argue that there is "no place" in Glasgow that is safe for anyone at all, male or female?

What do we mean by "safe" here? You're not "safe" crossing the road. You're not "safe" eating grapes.

I very much get that male aggression is a societal problem in all sorts of ways. You'll get no argument from me on that point. What I'm objecting to here is the seeding of the idea that individual people need to be afraid of *going for a run* when actually they (male or female) are incredibly unlikely to come to any sort of harm at the hands of a stranger. There might be young women reading what you wrote who are now giving second thoughts to doing something as simple as getting some exercise in a public place, and it makes me a little sad. In terms of pure statistical risk, a woman is safer out for a jog than she is at home with a male partner!
