| Comment | i've been a bit on the fence about the whole thing.
on one hand, it was a fun atmosphere and some of the events were quite fun to watch (freestyle bmx is always fun) plus it was fun to have chats with some of the riders while i was on my commute (shoutout to the romanian rider who said my 60's claud butler was "really cool" because it is)
but there's no doubt that so much of it was poorly planned for every day glaswegians. the busses were basically unusable, walking in town was basically nothing but detours and fuck you if you're someone who commutes by bicycle because GCC removed quite a few bike racks and closed sections of bike routes so you needed to take 1/2 mile detours just to get back on track.
if this does anything, i hope it somehow translates to better cycling infrastructure for commuting cyclists in glasgow. but i doubt it |
