Don't you dare cover up or feel ashamed because of them.
When I see your scars I know you're a survivor, like me. All I know is you've been through the wringer and came out the other side. And that makes you kind of amazing.
Not everyone can "wear them with pride" and I get that. But I really hope you can get to a place where you don't "wear them with shame" any more. For me it was about changing how I viewed them, seeing them as proof of survival. But it did take time.
I am also big in to Stoic philosophy. Part of which is not allowing others to disturb you or become the master of your emotions. Again, not easy/overnight, and I'd still get a negative emotional response from this women too, but I'd immediately be able to take back control of myself and not allow her to hurt me beyond that instant sting of emotion.
Just some thoughts. My love and support goes out to you though stranger, please don't cover yourself because of this bad interaction. Take care. |
