Then she explained to me they were scars from self harming.
I had literally no idea what that even was. in the middle of her explanation I was like "Wtf? A razor blade?". I'd never seen anything like that before. Now I know all about it and thinking back makes me cringe.
I guess the point is, maybe it wasn't malice and just simple bone-headed ignorance? Granted, she sounds older and should've known better. Though I wonder what would have happened if you'd told her (not that you owe her an explanation or anything) - maybe she'd be mortified and would think differently about opening her mouth in the future {like I do now}. |
