I had a trial shift when I was in high school in a high street accessory store. Bit more upmarket than Claires.

Showed up, dressed smart. Got berated that I wasn't wearing something from their sister clothes store. Got left to stand about for a bit then got told the staff were all going for lunch and I'd be on my own for an hour. No till knowledge, no back up at all. I had to start telling customers approaching the shop that purchases couldn't be made until after 1pm or whatever.
Staff got back I asked to leave. They wanted to run a till report first. No idea what they thought of me as I got out of there as quick as and never set foot in the place again.

If you have hospitality experience I wouldn't take an unpaid trail anywhere. Or even negotiate a free feed or something.
