honestly, it's a mix of entitlement and the lack of enforcement.

as someone who's had to help their friend who's a wheelchair user get around, it's a nightmare. cars parked or stopped on pedestrian crossings not willing to move, less lowered crossings than you think, short crossing times, longer cycles for cars (longer waiting times for pedestrians) and really narrow pavements. you realise how hostile life is when you're not in a car. oh and to the eventual reply saying "they should just get a car" they do and what they've found is there's always a range rover mommy or bmw in the disabled parking spaces with no blue badge. all you can do is report it and move on.

personally i like the idea of hostile pedestrianism. if someone parks on a pedestrian crossing, you should have full permission to walk over their car or bang on the car and call them a wanker. make them actually feel like shitty drivers because right now, there's no other penalty.
