Comment | Because taking off at the same time in front of, beside or between traffic (cars/vans/lorries) is dangerous, almost every time they get impatient and do a dangerous overtake as soon as the lights change which is a very dangerous time to be overtaking.
Paris did a study, trial and implemented offical policy for cyclists to go on red, as a broad set of changes they have drastically improved active travel infrastructure and now has far less pollution, far less car crashes and is a much nicer city in general for both pedestrians, cyclists and car drivers.
As I said in my post, I dont mind cutting off a pedestrian if they are walking across a dedicated bike lane without paying attention as the exception when I know nobody is going to run into each other. |
