Traffic lights are not there for everyones safety, they are there to keep pedestrians safe from cars, they make cycling more dangerous as it forces cyclists to take off in front of heavy traffic.
Paris and other places have removed the restriction on cyclists and seen massive improvements in road safety, pollution etc
