hey! ex Muslim here - grew up in religious household but once my father left I was able to leave that surrounding. I’d make sure you interact with the right folk as a lot can be anti Islam and it can create hate towards that religion and culture.
for me I embraced my culture and heritage without the religious ideology. I found comfort in talking to other Muslim woman (who are much more liberal leaning) and also non Muslims (or religious people in general who left their religion)
a lot of it is due to the environment they were in rather than the religion itself. (I find Islam beautiful but my environment of forcing it made me not want to practise it further)
not sure on communities and such im sure the other comments can help but I would just make sure you’re within the right people |
