I don't know the details but Apple has some kind of preferred status with the Scottish Government which means that it provides kit for a lower charge to educational establishments in return for being the default choice.
If you're a teacher or student or work at a university you get something like 20% off personal purchases off Apple kit because of this (although few people seem to be aware of this) |
