| Comment | I’ve not seen any real anti-semitism but the truth is the Jewish community is shrinking and also mostly invisible, they also tend to mostly associate with themselves and stick to East Renfrewshire so most people don’t have any real contact with them.
I’ve saw a lot of comments about people drifting from anti-Zionism to antisemitism, I’m not saying that’s never happened but there are lobbying groups in the UK who have made a concerted effort to equate criticism of Israel with criticism of Jews.
This has had the desired effect of making many almost scared to criticise Israel, fortunately that doesn’t seem to apply to Glasgow.
If anyone doubts the influence that pro-Israeli media has in the UK then just look at the hatchet job that Jeremy Corbyn was the victim of.
That was completely driven through Israel shitting themselves that the UK under Corbyn wouldn’t stand back and put up with their shite.
In summary though you’re unlikely to see antisemitism in Glasgow but if you have any strong feelings on Zionism it’s probably best to avoid the subject.. |
