The whole build has street level retail frontage facing Kilmarnock Road. Which is essentially what we should be expecting as a minimum on any main road developments. It fulfils this, while many other similar builds on main roads don't.

And I don't buy the out-of-keeping thing about the height of this. It's not a tower. It's six storeys facing onto Kilmarnock Road at its highest. With individual floor to ceiling heights smaller than tenements from 100+ years ago, that makes it not very much taller than the tenements on the other side of the main road. Sorry, I just don't see the argument.
