Definitely better to try and do your preferred work beforehand. When I worked in hospo I was very fit and driven and tbh I really struggled to be ‘productive’ in the morning. I’d do maybe 12-10’s or 3-12’s and although doesn’t seem too bad it, it physically and socially drained me. I was a complete write-off after work and the most i could really manage before work was maybe go to the shops and on a really good day, get out to the gym or for a big walk. I didn’t really have the time or energy to devote to doing other work that I wanted to do. On top of this, you can be working 6/7 hours a week, two days off in a row is extremely rare and you’ll be done in on your days off and spend it resting to get up to scratch for your next block of shifts. If I were you, I’d look into getting maybe some entry level admin work, set shifts, nice hours and usually have weekends off. Even look into NHS/police call centres. I found sales call centres to be absolutely miserable but might also be worth looking into if you think you can hack it.
