I totally support this in principle yet also think it’s naive to think there won’t be any unintended consequences.

There are risks such as dealers knowing where their market is, other addicts knowing who/where to rob to acquire gear, over-zealous addiction workers putting people off using them, increased crime around the areas they’re situated, stigma around use etc…

They are a good idea but all of these risks and more would need to be mitigated and managed to make them a success.

Politically they are an open-goal as any crime which takes place near them (and they will) will be linked to the consumption rooms by the Daily Mail and their ilk, who will also run stories about how the people living near it have been affected in order to blame and tar the SNP.

Might not be the magic bullet we think it is but definitely worth a shot.
