| Comment | It's definitely a *pilot* in the sense it's unclear what the outcome will be. I wouldn't view it as some sort of trick though.
The hope is that in encouraging more people to use rail at peak times (or generally) you build a stronger revenue base for the future.
It's possible, maybe even likely that prices will increase. They always do. But the hope is future price increases will be offset and kept to minimum by stronger demand, boosted by this scheme. |
