I work at the uni in the department where we have to be every day simply because we have to do things on site. So to put it simply if the job description does not state that you need to:
- meet students or lecturers
- look after anything specific on the estate

You will be allowed for hybrid working. These days new member of staff is issued a laptop not a desktop purely because of hybrid work. From my experience and in my college which I won’t disclose here most of admin work including HR, course support, student support is mostly done in hybrid manner. So if your job can be done online you won’t be forced into the office on the basis “we think people are more efficient on the office”. You will be however encouraged to show up at least once a week or something along those lines. To be honest though from my experience after covid most of the staff now works from home from greater part of the week and I have pretty good insight.
