It has its own unique charm. They've done some odd things over the years like painting over the original tiling with some kind of weird magnolia vinyl paint. It's peeling off now and looks terrible.

Sounds like you were in OPD in the QEB. It's a maze but the clinics themselves are maintained to a good standard and the staff are great.

Maintenance is constant, especially in the old hospital. . When there's heavy rain you can expect something to go wrong. The only real options are to patch things up and hope for the best. Short of building another massive hospital elsewhere, I'm not really sure what else we could do

I don't think it's awful though. Sounds like you had a bad experience but shit happens. Have a look at the Friends of GRI Instagram and check out their museum. This old place has contributed a lot to public health over the last couple of centuries.
