Yeah I would argue that it was desirable, but lots of people didn’t agree with me. I remember having the convo a lot at the time and being scoffed at as it would never be as popular as the west end.

The shift in demographics was not as obvious pre-strangebrew. They didn’t cause the shift, but I’d say their arrival is a reasonable marker for pinpointing the temporal change in attitudes and how we arrive at where we are now.

Plus I could still afford to buy a place there. I couldn’t now. Even if we weren’t in a cost of living crisis, the property prices in Shawlands have rocketed.
