or another more correct way of looking at it; a dump/ crap area gets investment, that brings cafes, shops, experiences, which lowers crime, brings in more investment, brings more tertiary experiences leading to a quality of life improvement; people now want to move in having thought it was a slum years prior

this all leads to flats and houses in the area having, at times, a quite drastic rise in value so the "poor being forced out" is bollocks; the ones that sell, sell their property at far higher price than they thought possible when they moved into area and the ones that stay now live in a nicer, cleaner more attractive area improving their quality of life


People honestly blast gentrification because its "cool" to, but they dont really understand what it is. saying gentrification is bad because some landlords get greedy and hike rents; guess what all landlords are greedy


do people who hate gentrification want Glasgow to remain the genuine 2nd world slum it was in the 70-80s?
