| Comment | oh shit, you just bought back a fucking memory. so it's around 08 or 09 and i'm living in EK. EK is one of those places where if it snows bad enough, you're not leaving. the job centre set me up with a job interview for office angels in their bothwell branch which was basically a portacabin on an industrial estate. i didn't have a car at the time and the job centre had this rule that if you couldn't make a job interview, you had yer benefits stopped. the night before there's an orange weather warning for snow. i call up the job centre that night and tell them there's no way i'm gonna make it to the interview easily. i get told i have to try. i phone up the office angels office and ask if i can re-arrange because of the weather, they say no.
it took me 11 busses and 5 hours to do a journey that normally can be done in 3 busses and 2 hours. when i got to the interview, the woman was like "well it shows determination that you came here given all that but why didn't you just drive?" when i explained i didn't have a car, she said "well that's a mark against you" i never even got the job...... but i did get the flu and was bed ridden for 2 weeks. |
