Someone else explained it here but it's probably the way electric trains make a massive thud when they lose power and move to battery. In Stirling all the trains to Glasgow/Edinburgh are 385s and if you sit near the end of a carriage you'll frequently shit yourself when it happens multiple times in the trip and wonder if you've been bombed until you remember it happens constantly and you still get frightened every time
