They haven’t paid more tax than I can imagine. They at most have paid 47%. I pay 42% as part of my salary. I’m just above the threshold but 47% (5%) more for someone earning 500k. I know which person will struggle more.

But that’s not my point. My council tax is almost 2500 a year. BUT that’s more than 1% of the value of my house. So who is really being fucked?

Council Tax band A in Glasgow is up to 27k - and costs £1334.19 a year. Is that more or less than 1%? H is properties over 212k - £4677 annually. But that’s the same for a house at 1million or 3million.

Also I’m unsure if the amount of work someone puts in at their job directly correlates to their take home earnings. I’m sure the people working Wall Street making 6 figures work way harder than the fire fighters than entered the twin towers? (Sorry that was the first analogy that popped into my head).
