There are plenty of traffic lights. The large presence of them shows the need to control the ridiculous levels of cars on the roads. Have a look closely as you will see them everywhere.
What we need more of is pedestrian crossings. In other European cities every 30m or so there is a crossing point. Pedestrians need far more priority in order to encourage more walking and cycling.
