I’ve read the full list of closures and seen that the Coatbridge running track (Janet Hamilton Centre) is to be closed. That is facility is an example of scandalous mismanagement from the council.
The running track itself has always been perfectly usable but just needs a little TLC and maintenance. The grass pitch in the middle of the track is actually in decent nick.
But one of the buildings went on fire a few years ago and since then, the council have actively avoided taking any bookings whatsoever for the site and now manor absolutely no money from it whatsoever. I don’t think even the Airdrie Harriers use the facility anymore.
In my opinion, they should’ve converted the grass pitch to an Astro turf 11 aside pitch years ago, and segmented the pitch into 3 7 aside pitches like they have at Saint Ambrose. |
