Best thing I did after passing my test 2 years ago was resist the temptation to walk into a dealer and get my pants pulled down.

I bought a 900 quid banger that ran and had 8 months left on the MOT - I actually learned how to drive in that car without the pressure of worrying too much about a hefty investment . - the car served me well and despite quirks like the aircon/heating not working and this god awful sound it made from the second I turned it on till I turned it off , I actually enjoyed it .

7 months later I got 600 back on it from the dealer as a deposit towards my new (2nd hand) car .
