Don't take a jacket that's too heavy to comfortably carry - it's a rare day when you're still too hot in shirt/trousers only.
It does depend on how far into the centre you're going - the steep hills are a pain if your work's after them.
Even accounting for needing to get new/resoled footwear about every year, I'm still saving money.
