I’ve done it before and it was fine. Since peak fares are scrapped until March try it and see if it’s doable for you, then you can move through if not. By then you might have met another student looking to change their accom so you’ll get more for your £££. Other option could be stay somewhere on the express line between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
