Worth bearing in mind that what you're seeing coming into Argyle St is sub-surface rail (i.e. full-size train tracks) and totally unrelated to Subway/Underground.
Back in the days before British Rail there were various railway operators (not just train operators) competing and it meant loads of now-refundant tracks were built.
There are various different historic routes through/ across/under Glasgow that have been abandoned including the formerly proposed Crossrail project in Glasgow (linking North and South). Might be worth looking then up as I'm sure they'll have info about the various lines. |
