And to expand on the fact the valuation is wrong. If I, a person with absolutely no related training or education can provide a more accurate estimate to what a house will be sold at by a relatively brief look at related properties than an actual paid surveyor, the surveying process is flawed.

The idea that houses have some inherent value that ignores the "market" is a batshit idea fundementally opposed to what value actually means and doesnt help anyone.

Surveyors should should be paid in escrow and have their fee deducted by the percentage they were wrong by.
