You are totally correct. If the staff see any kind of increase in the use of services then they will want even more pay. The unions are behind the shocking service as per usual. They are in a difficult position as they can’t openly complain about the extra workload as they will be made a laughing stock.

It’s easier just to support increased levels of sickness and control the flow of drivers on a Sunday which is still an optional day to work. If you use the trains regularly you will notice that there is hardly a ticket inspector to be seen anywhere. They are all off on the sick or sitting in the back cab watching Netflix.

Granted very recently there has been extreme weather which will account for some of your reported delays. It was however astounding how quickly the flooded stations were back up and running. That’s down to the private sector contractors of course.

Most of your comments get down voted of course as there are many railway employees reading this thread during their sickness breaks or from the back cab.
