The phone has probably been remotely wiped. That’s why the activation lock has appeared. It should still be searchable using the Find My app. The owner may come looking for it.
It don’t believe Apple can or will trace the real owner. Your only hope is to leave it charged and let the owner find it. If the handset is only marked as lost then I think the owner can still send messages to the screen with contact details. |
