yes it does require planning. anyway i say do it, whether it's tomorrow or in two years time.

i should also mention the queer community is much bigger and much easier to find. i don't think you'll have trouble finding other gay sci fi nerds (🙋). tied into that, there *are* a lot of students here too but you'll meet more people who are just living here in their 20s and 30s.

and yeah others have mentioned there's more hills and country parks nearby, some of which are accessible by public transport, or loch Lomond is nearby. And there's just more to do on the "low" cultural level like going to gigs/concerts. I guess there's more "high" culture (ballet, opera...) in Edinburgh?? idk. And obviously there's the Festival in Edinburgh but it's much nicer to be a visitor in that season and go to a bunch of shows, than it is to live there during it.
